3 Best Content Calendar Planning Tools
Working efficiently is extremely important. Nothing sucks more than the feeling of having worked for 90 minutes getting that Instagram post just perfect, the lighting, perspective, and colors just right, only to post it at a time when none of your followers expect you to post causing it to flop. In a previous article I discussed why it is soooooo important to have a content calendar, and in this article I will be discussing 3 good tools to use for making said content calendar.
Note: None of these companies are sponsoring this piece, so these are my unswayed opinions.
SmartSheet
SmartSheet is a beefy tool that mainly focuses on brands for large businesses, but their service is really good for us smaller influencers too.
At $14 a month, SmartSheet is the only tool on this list that does not have a free version of the product, but it does have a 30-day free trial that you can use to see if the product works for you.
Smartsheet is a good tool because of its integrations. You can use google docs, slides, sheets, etc to work with it as well as other tools like Dropbox, and Evernote. It also comes built in with good Content Calendar templates for 2019 and beyond.
Smartsheet is a good all around tool that’s great for, at very least being familiar with when looking to work with other businesses.
Contentcal.io
ContentCal is an older tool (In internet years) that is now in its 5th iteration. Nowadays the tool is very powerful and has many features… one of which is its free Hobbyist plan.
Even at the free level ContentCal lets you connect 4 social accounts and post up to 50 times per month, which is usually more than what you need if you are posting high quality content. The only con of the free version is that you effectively cannot upload videos through it.
One funny thing about ContentCal is the fact that there is one plan for $399 a month that will get your content made for you. I personally have never bought this plan, but hey — they wouldn’t sell it if it didn’t work.
Try.AirTable.Com
Airtable is another slightly-overpowered tool for influencers, but that doesn’t stop it from being useful. AirTable has a lot of public clout as well with such large Brands as Shopify, BuzzFeed, Medium, wework, and TIME.
Their free Essential Features package comes with access to their web application as well as a downloadable program and iOS and Android apps you can throw it on your laptop or phone and still work on projects.
My favorite feature has to be the collaboration because it is free to make an account and work on a project with a friend and stay organized together.
Conclusion
AirTable is definitely my favorite one out of the tools that I have found. At the end of the day however, you can realistically just use google calendar to set reminders of when to post, and that tools is free as well.
As soon as it starts it’s over. — Justus
